Fundraising - Monsoon Accessorize Support the Teddy Bear Foundation.

The Teddy Bear Foundation is delighted to announce that it will be enjoying the support of one of the UK’s most prestigious fashion retailers, Monsoon Accessorize.

Staff working at the company’s 21 Scottish branches voted to back our charity for the next 12 months, raising cash through a series of events throughout the year.

Teddy Bear founder Barry Chuwen said:”This is remarkable news for a small Scottish charity.

“Monsoon Accessorize are one of the best-known names on the high street. Who knows what we will be able to achieve together over the next 12 months.”

Mr Chuwen said the news was particularly appealing as the decision was taken by Monsoon Accessorize staff themselves. Although the company is based throughout the UK, it is the Scottish ‘region’ which traditionally raises most cash for good causes. There are branches in Aberdeen, Dumfries, Dundee, East Kilbride, Edinburgh, Elgin, Glasgow, Inverness, Livingston and St Andrews.

Gillian Lipton, Senior Corporate Responsibility Manager for Monsoon Accessorize, said: ”Announcements such as this are one of the nicest aspects to my job.

“All our 21 branches in Scotland will be supporting the Teddy Bear Foundation. Initially, this will last for a year and we will review it after that.

“Our own company charity, the Monsoon Accessorize Trust has been supporting women and children in Asia for more than 20 years and we’re now happy to support 16 UK charities too.

“I drew up a short list of charities in Scotland and the majority of the staff voted for the Teddy Bear Foundation.” The relationship begins on May 29, when Monsoon Accessorize employees organise a week full of fundraising activities in all stores.

In September, a company-wide raffle will take place to raise more money, with the company donating £4,000-worth of gift cards as prizes.

Barry Chuwen will meet Monsoon Accessorize employees and tell them about the work of the Foundation; helping children with special needs in Scotland.

Ms Lipton added:”I believe a lot of amazing things will come out of our partnership with the Foundation. “We are particularly looking forward to hearing from Barry, who will tell us where the money goes and about the children who benefit from it.”
